London Drainage Facilities has joined other drainage and utilities employers in signing the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant shows support to serving members of the Armed Forces, including Reservists, service leavers, veterans and their families. London Drainage Facilities also actively recruits ex-forces personnel at all levels across the business.

Armed Forces Covenant

Our signing captures our commitment to the forces community through our pledges; providing employment and development opportunities throughout London and the South East of England.

The Covenant was signed on the 5th of October 2023 during an Employer Engagement Breakfast at Merville Barracks, Colchester Garrison – home to 16 Air Assault Brigade. The event was hosted by Lieutenant Colonel Ed Rankin (Garrison Commander) and Colonel James Loudoun (Deputy Commander 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team).

The event was attended by Barry Wright (Finance Director) and Dave Quinney (Head of Operations), with Barry signing the Covenant on behalf of LDF.

What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.

Its two principles are that, recognising the unique obligations of, and sacrifices made by, the Armed Forces:

  • Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.
  • Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.

Managing Director Lucie Fuller gave her thoughts on LDF signing the covenant:

“London Drainage Facilities are proud to support our Armed Forces community. We have a moral obligation and commitment to support our service men, women and their dependants who sacrifice so much in service of our crown and country.

We will uphold our pledge and the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant and would relish the opportunity to demonstrate our appreciation to our Armed Forces heroes”.
