Due to recent flooding problems in an area of Perth, central Scotland, the water supplier has announced it will look after the drains on a more regular basis.
Over the past few weeks the drains in Feus Road in particular have been devastated by torrential rain and the water waste network just couldn’t cope.
The area has experienced the worst flooding in 20 years and engineers from Scottish Water have been using equipment to remove silt from the pipes.
Scottish Water has been in negotiations with Perth and Kinross Council over the matter and will put measures in place to ensure the situation doesn’t happen again.
A spokesperson for the company commented:
“Perth was deluged with around 40 millimetres of rainfall in just one morning.
“This sharp, sudden, downpour was a challenge to our waste water network, as it would be to any such system.
“The issues in Feus Road were related to this extreme weather event, and not to any issues within our network.”
Drain maintenance is not just a requirement for areas with a risk of extreme flooding. Many residents and business owners in the English capital city of London also require these services on a regular basis. If you find that the drainage systems are causing you concern, then make sure you get in touch with the industry professionals.
