The sewer network in Crosby will be upgraded this spring to stop flooding in the local area.
The new multi-million pound project by United Utilities has just been finalised, and residents will be able to see detailed plans of the scheme when they are unveiled by the water company at the end of February.
The work will take place around Brunswick Place and on a few of the surrounding streets, and will expand the sewer network so it can cope with an increased volume of water at times of heavy rainfall. The works will be completed in a number of phases and will see the sewers just about double in size.
The project coordinator from United Utilities stated:
“This investment will come as a welcome relief to local people who have suffered the misery of sewer flooding.
“By enlarging the sewers, we will make sure they can hold much more water when the heavens open, thereby reducing the risk of overflows.
“It’s a big project, and it will mean our engineers will have a presence in and around Brunswick Parade for a number of months. However, the results, in terms of peace of mind for local people, will be more than worth any short-term disruption.”
