Solve root intrusion in your drainage system
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010One of the most common causes of drain blockage is root intrusion. Roots from plants and trees can occasionally find their way into the drainage system in their search for water, and when this happens it can have a serious impact on the drain’s integrity.
Blockages caused by root intrusion are one of the most common causes of drainage problems. The roots of a plant can totally block a drain and can cause untold havoc to the homeowner. Roots can be removed however with the help of specialist cutting equipment.
A water propelled root cutter can be inserted into a pipe that is suffering from root intrusion so the root system can be cut back to restore the pipe to its full water carrying capacity. If the roots have got into the pipe through a hole or crack, the drainage company can then carry out a repair of the pipe so the problem does not reoccur. Sometimes the pipe does not even have to be replaced, it can simply be fitted with an internal liner that covers the holes and cracks so the pipe can work effectively again.
