If we have a problem with a blocked drain, the first concern most people have is how expensive the repair may be. We also worry about the impact of the repair and imagine a huge area in our garden or on our driveway being dug up to find the offending blockage and remove it. Technology has however advanced and now if you have a blocked drain there is a very good chance that no digging will be required, even if the drain is damaged.

How can I clear a blocked drain?
Drain maintenance companies now use CCTV surveys to locate the actual blockage. A small camera is placed into the drain on the end of a long flexible rod. The drainage company can then push the camera deep into the drain to locate the source of the drain blockage. By using technology like this the drain blockage can be located and its position can be determined with extreme accuracy.

The drain company will then decide on the most appropriate action to take to remedy the blockage. This might be drain jetting or even root cutting to remove the offending clog. If the structure of the pipe is found to be damaged, in some instances, they can even insert a repair into the drain without digging the drain and replacing the section of pipe. The repair can thus be done quickly and efficiently without creating any mess and because it can be done quickly and costs can be kept to a minimum.
