What causes drain blockages?
Some drain blockages are a little more difficult to clear than others. And, it’s commonly impossible to tell which blockages will be worse to clear then others. If you have a blocked drain, your drain cleaning company may suggest you have a CCTV survey on the drain to determine what the cause of the blockage is. This way they can use appropriate tools and machinery to remove the blockage effectively.
Some of the reasons for blocked drains include:
• A build up of garden debris in the drain
• A blockage cause by solidified grease, fats or food debris
• A reduced pipe diameter due to scale
• A damaged pipe or subsidence
• Root intrusion into the pipe
• Blocked disposable nappies, sanitary towels or kitchen roll
Depending on the type of blockage, the drain cleaning company may suggest high pressure water jetting, root cutting, de-scaling, a liner repair or a complete pipe replacement.
