Blocked drains – A problem that needs to be solved at the earliest opportunity
Blocked drains, as home owners know, are messy and disruptive. They are one of the worst health hazards and can lead to the onset of diseases. Several diseases are in fact caused by overflowing drains. This is a major concern, especially if you have small children at home. Blocked drains can be easily spotted if you notice that water takes a long time to drain away from sinks or if there is a water build up in the toilet while flushing.
Home owners can avoid this problem through some simple precautions. You should ideally leave a 2 inch drop on the waste pipe when installing a kitchen sink. This is necessary because otherwise food particles and grease will accumulate in the pipes. This will ultimately reduce the diameter of the waste pipe and will lead to a blockage.
It is also advisable to check the waste pipes when replacing the kitchen sinks. Check for blockages and make sure that they are removed as soon as possible. If you fail to do so, it can result in a foul smell and even leakages. You should also regularly remove hair form the bathroom sink to avoid blockages.
These simple steps will help to keep your drains clean and unclogged.
